Nous sommes le 15 Decembre 2011 et il fait 8 degree dans la capital National. Ce qui pour les concerné veux dire qu il fait actuellement 27 degree dans le bureau... Heeee okay pour la mis décembre. Pffff !

Sinon je commence a vraiment avoir hate à la fin de semaine. En train d entrainer mon remplacent pour mon post actuel que je quitte la semaine prochaine due ''to irreconcilable differences'' comme va l expression. Metton que ca me donne pas beaucoup de temps de libre pour mettre a jour mes dossiers malgré le tres bas achalandage client.

It was on a clear yet grey Sunday the 13th at 13:10 that I left the Canadian Tire with my newly installed winter tires for ''la Bête''. At 13:15 I was back home and at 13:20 we were on the road again this time in my roomates Subaru heading into the Gatineau Park for an afternoon hike. We reached the park at about 2:15 after a pit stop at a local hotdog & Poutine Cassecroute. Unfortunatly yours truly had already had had a power bar for lunch on the way up so no comments on the food there but it smelled very greasy yummy. 

Shortly after entering the park and it was  decided we would be going up the quaint aread designated as P3 for lack of a better name. An easy leveled 6k covered in a few hours with numerous and strategic pauses for my roomate to try out his new camera "Mamiya C330f". The texture and zoom on this little marvel of the 70s is simply amazing. I know nothing of photography, let alone developing my own film in our basement beside the dryer and washer but what he showed me during the editing process was quite nice indeed. Des pantoufles d'hiver pour la Bête !

 Donc le week-end du 5 / 6 Novembre j ai décider de changer mes pneux d hivers histoire de chausser la bête pour l hiver. Généralement je le fais moi même dans la cours et en profite pour la mettre a jour pour la saison. Cette année alors que je m attablais a la tâche j ai tres rapidement réalisé que mes pneux étais débalancé... Bon pas de grosse surprise la étant donnée que la Bête a passé l hiver sur ceux-ci sans bougé  d un poil des mois durant bien emitouflé sous la neige jusqu au printemps. So, je remet mon changement de pneu pour la semaine suivante et quel meilleur endroit pour un changement de pneu  que Canadian Tire...  Au courant de la semaine je téléphone mon Canadian Tirelire local pour prendre rendez-vous et ont m informe toute bêtement qu'ils ne prennent aucun rendez vous pour les week-end.

Heeee c est prob la période la plus achanlandé de l année pour vos service de changement de pneu et vous ne prenez pas de rendez-vous !?! Bin con ! Etk

Samedi le 12 novembre je me présente au Canadian Tire a 9:15. Le centre auto ouvrait a 8:00 mais je me dis bahh au pire je vais attendre une heure ou deux ... Yaaaa non. Le ptit ''Mr Comis en Charge'' me dit qu'ils sont bouclée jusqu a 3 , 4 pm et qu'il ferme leurs porte a 5 pm le samedi. Autremendi aucune garantie. So apres quelques insultes en liens avec "pas de rendez-vous policy"  au ptit ''Mr Comis en Charge'' du centre auto je décampe en brulant ce qui reste de mes rubber d'été.
Dimanche le 13 novembre je retourne au Canadian Tire cette fois a 8:40 alors qu ils ouvrent a 9:00. Je suis le 5eme en ligne, not bad ci ont considere le fiasco d hier. A 9:20 je fini par voir un comis a mon tour et ont m informe que ma voiture sera prete vers les 12:00 pour balancer et changé mes rubber d été pour ceux d'hiver. Je prend mon mal en patience et monte au magasin flanner dans les allées. Par la suite c est un ptit déjeuné sur le pouce au Tim a que je dévore avidement dans la salle d attente du centre auto avec un café vanille francaise. Un bon point pour eux leur divant sont extrement comfortable.

En profite pour placotté avec les autres clients qui attendent donc un gentleman des plus sympa originaire de l Angletterre. Le Gentleman en question a volé pour les alliés durant la 2eme guerre mondiale et nous avons parlés des différente technologies disponible pour les individues blesser ou handicapé pendant une bonne heure dont des apareilles de compensation optique. A l affut de bon nombres de sujet le Mr ! 

A 12:15 je demande un update pour mon bolide et ont m informe que ca va probablement aller a 13:00 et quelques. A 13:15 exactement je sort de la chaussé pour la neige et a 13:20 j 'arrive a la maison. A 13:25 je repart pour le Parc de La Gatineau avec mes colocs mais ca c est une autre histoire !

Oppération a Capot Ouvert

Alors il y a quelques semaines la bête fut forcé de se faire couper le siffler. A savoir une opperation a capot ouvert fut realiser sous la pluie dans le parking du boulot... A 5:15 un vendredi soir just alors que je m appretais a quitte la capital pour aller rejoindre ma copine dans la metropole j ai due sortir mes pinces de dentiste en herbe et lui arraché, a froid ... une fuse histoire de la faire taire !! Il etait 5 pm et toujour a mon poste en train de me préparer pour sortir lorsque le téléphone sonna. Je répond ti ou je répond ti pas ??? Décide de répondre et c est le patron au bout de la ligne.

'' Que puije pour vous ? '' dije.
'' Je ne sais pas ci tu es au courant mais ta voiture hurle pas possible dans le parking''
''A t elle été frappé par quelqu un ??''
''Aucun signe de dommage mais ci j était toi je me dépecherais de venir la faire taire''

(Bon ok ok il ne s exprima point en autant de mots mais l intention est traduite dans mon ptit scenario ci haut.)

Alors je mis mes jambes a mon coup, pris tout mon ptit grément avec moi et descendi le ventre a terre retrouvé la bete en pleine crise dans le parking. Apres quelques futiles tentative de ma part pour la rassuré je fini par la faire se calmé quelques minutes via un mouvement de va et viend dans le parking... suis serieux la ! Malheureusement elle recomenca de plus belle a hurlé et donc apres quelques minutes déspérer je réussi une fois de plus a la calmé. Usant de ce cours répis je sortie mon guide de l anatomie pour impreza for Dummies et découvris qu une solution viable était possible via une oppération a capot ouvert. Je contact mon Subaru afin de vérifier mon hypothese et pendant qu ils vérifies ma théorie je débute mon oppération sous une pluie battante. Success & god bless mon multi tool  !! la dent, je veux dire la fuse arraché elle se tut immédiatement. Enfin pu me mettre en route vers la métropole pour le week-end a travers quelques séries d orages digne de mention.

Chinese Lantern Festival Oct 8th 2011

So a few weeks back my sweetie and I went to the annual Chinese Lantern Festival at the Chinese Garden in Mtl.




I must say it was very nice this year. The lanterns were beautiful and well laid out accross the path and pond. I was very happy with the result in comparison to a few years back where the quality of the lanterns was ... well crappy. This year s theme `The First Emperor's Procession` was very well portrayed on the pond with a number of soldiers riding above the reflective waters as well as a panoplie of characters in the surrouding hills and gardens.

Note to self only go there on the week-nights and not week-ends... Bloody Hell ! The line actually started outside the garden and continued on and off INSIDE THE GARDEN and along the paths... /$%/$%W$TGW$%?%T !!! Never seen so many people there before. Though this time around I decided to go earlier in the season as to avoid the cold. Yup from wearing a leather jacket, a tuque, a clerverly disguised pepsi bottle flask.... to a clean shirt and being very comfortable outside past 9 pm. Waiting in line aside, it was a great evening. Ohh and toped the evening off with a side trip to the Old Orchard for their delicious Apple Meat Pie and  Guiness. MMMMmmmmmmm

Saut au Mt St Bruno

Bon lundi el people ! Et bien oui toujours une semaine de décalage pour le blog hence without any further due here is .... was the latest.

La semaine dernière j’étais dans la métropole et tanné de flâner entre les immeubles en béton j’ai décidé de prendre ma douce avec moi et de faire un saut parmi les ptits oiseaux et cerfs de virginies. Destination, le Mt St Bruno en vue de la ville via la 20. BON en théorie se rendre là-bas à partir de Décarie c’est 45 minutes. En pratique sans le pont Champlain dans le trafic de mis journée par ce beau samedi ensoleillé... 90 minutes via le pont Victoria. Intéressant comme pont ce truc ! Le son émis par mes pneus nous rappelait étrangement celui des manèges aux parcs d amusements. Vous savez ceux qui montent et monte ... et monte avec un ptit bruit de chaine et frottements avant l’inévitable chutes/descente !!! La c est généralement la partie ou nous crions avec joie... ici ce fut plutot le moment ou nous avons tout deux eux un ptit rire nerveux... LOL

Le Park du Mt St Bruno, une collection de colline avec un surprenant nombre de lac et bibittes de tout genre. Nous avons opté pour le sentier du Montérégien. Un 8.8 Km qui passe parmi les collines et ruisseaux. Au Départ, nous avons gringottée quelques chocolatines et pointe de pommes de Premières Moissons toute fraiche de la journée histoire de nous donner du courage pour la journée. Cette piste n offre point de vue panoramique mais bien bien pour une belle randonnée relax dans les bois. Pris quelques photos incluant ce que je suspect être un lien avec Papa Smurf...

Pas vue de schtroumf mais nous fument poursuivis par des écureuils pas si discret  que ça ... et ce pratiquement toute la randonnée. A un point je croyais même qu’ils allaient nous embusqué et taxé note passage pour une poignée de noix ! hahahahaha. La surprise de la journée un trio de cerfs de virginies dans le boisée tout près du sentier ! Un peu trop loin pour ma Nixon 5X mais très beau a  voir ''brouté'' à travers les arbres : ))))   Oh et pour les fanatiques de photos et co. Ya un '' être'' et quelques extra dispos comme d’habitude via flikr via mon site web d’ici la fin de la semaine. 60 minutes pour le retour via le pont Jacques Cartier cette fois et un bon ptit souper en excellente compagnie. Une journée des plus agréable quoi ;p

Mt Monroe & Mt Franklin

Good morning people, the week-end before last was my annual 4000 footer hike with the old man. Now it so happens that this long week-end was also the one following tropical storm Irene... which meant that a number of roads in the area where washed away or shall we say, closed for renovations due to mother natures latest fit...

The AMC (Appalachian Mountain Club) was very good in the days leading up to the storm by taking a number of safety precautions including sending out e-mails to members and mailing list, advising local hikers on the closing of trails and the Hight Huts as well as requesting already settled guest stay put or to make for clearer skies just to be on the safe side. Luckily by the following week-end we had descent weather all the way up and rolling clouds once on top. I even managed to get a nice tan in a perfect parrallele line with my badanna...lol. 

The week ends Plan A was for ''take two'' on Mt Jefferson which was ... not completed a few years back due to you guessed it bad weather !! Unfortunatly Jefferson Notch Road leading up to Caps Ridge Trail was closed due to the previous week-end mountain floods. So we kept driving on the same road up to the Cog Railway and opted to instead tackle Mt Monroe and possiblly Mt Franklin weather permitting via Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail .

This trail is possibly one of the nicest we have hiked so far if only for the amazing mountain streams and beautiful waters and falls. Fast running streams flowing down the moutain by leaps and bounds into christal clear stone bassins only inches from the trail... I had never encoutered water this pure and this refreshing before. You could feel the freshness and flow even from the trail but it was't icy to the touch. Rather heart warming and soul uplifting. Cue the ''Coutry Folk Music''... tidlidi di didlidi di di... LOL Seriously, it felt great  : )  We began our hike at 8:45 am and two and a hafl hours later,11:15,  we where enjoying the sights at Lakes of the Clouds. Pretty steep once you reach the head of the Ravine and actually began to accend. Luckily, the Lakes Hut is always most welcoming and as tradition would want, they had oversized brownies laid on the table for the taking upon our arrival !!! mouahahahahaha !!

After a quick look around remebering our past visit nearly 10 years ago, we pushed to Mt Monroe while the weather was still holding. The above picture of Lakes of the Clouds was taken on our way up towards Mt Monroe summit. U can even see a little of Mt Washington and it 's weather towers sticking it s head through the clouds higher up. 20 min out of Lakes we reached the summit and decided to keep going to Mt Franklin.

On our way to Mt Franklin with the clouds rolling in and out every few minutes. No hight winds nor rain though. Weather was quite comfortable despite the forboding clouds of a darker shade here and there.

Taken on our way back down at the feet of one of the numerous waterfalls.... yaaaa that clear reaching 3/4 of the hike up out of the 5001 feet to Lakes of the Clouds. Took us two hours and half also (same as going up) to reach our starting point off the Cog Railway. We took our sweet time heading back, breathing in every last ounce of greenerry and listening to the endless spring chatter as if entralled in an alternate world of wonder. Update fin d Aouuuuuuuut

Bonne soirée groupe,  et bien ce fut quelques semaines des plus agréable a bord de la bête. Environs 2 et quelques pour être exact. Yup capoute l aire climatisé. Pas été long hein @##$R#$T#$W !!!!!!!!! Bordel. Je la rammene demain matin au garage.. encors... Mais vous savez quoi, depuis hier soir je m en balance comme l ans quanrante. Ma copine adoré est enfin de retour en terre Canadienne, le reste... combien acessoire et combien pale en comparaison! Et puis la bete ronronne toujours et garde assez de mordant pour grimper les poteaux d hydro ci le coeur lui en dit. So misérables cycliste qui occupez le 3/4 du chemin... tassez vous du chemin tabarnalacla !! I m still out there .. mouahahahaha. Sinon il y le Presidential Range dans le NH ce week-end avec le padres suivi d un retour lundi en soirée pour une petite semaine de 4 jours : ).

Oh les magic mushroom ? Follow the broken down road and not so much the old "yellow brick road" le long du lac Meech jusqu au sentier des loups dans la Gatineau. Joke apart, ma douce ci tu lis ceci tu m as contacté cette journée ou j étais dans les bois, live de la Turquie, tout pret de cet endroit ! Coincidence de la part d une avide "skypeuse" ci pres des champignon ? Je ne crois pas... ; P  Oh et parlant de merveilles et enchantements tombé a point nommé... heeee, bon c que je disais déja moie la ? Fait Chaud dans la Bête !

Ouin ouin ouin j avais la parfaite intro pour cette entrée et fichtre de merde a ma sortie du bureau vendredi j ai dropper mon sac a dos avec mon thermos pour thé. Lequel était bien entendu en verre /$%$"/%?/$?/$ !!! Mon entrée grafouiller sur un ptit coin de napkine n ayant point survecu au verre et heureux melange de feuille de thé humide a souhait voila donc l explication de l actuelle intro. Un autre dégat signé qui d autre que moi. ETK so la bête dans ses innombrables et infini subtilitées commencais a avoir chaud. Ou plutot moi a sont bord commencais a avoir le gout de fondre avec mes allés et venu surtout en soirée dans le traffic. J ai donc fini par prèter l oreille a mes collegues de bureau et fait reparer mon aire climatiser. La, fidele disciples de mes péripéthies vous vous doutez sans doute que rien n ai jamais aussi simple dans mon cas. Et oui, en l occurence vous avez tout a fait raison. Je suis aller au garage du meme proprio que ma compagnie histoire de rester dans la ''familia'' juste pour faire verifier le pourquoi du marche pas, fait chaud... va etre malade, j ai soif .... ARRRGGGG on arrive on arrive !! So apres 45 min d inspection avec la ptite machine sur ma demi-heure de lunch nous avons, moi et le technicient, jumper 'haut de meme' au vue de la bruinne poussiereuse qui se mis a s echapper sous pression des profondeur du module d'air climatiser. La fuite localisée, le freon completement vide ils m ont offert de commander la piece manquante et de la changer. Yea ! Le lendemain ils m appelle avec la dite piece deja recus mais due a mon horaire j ai preferer attendre un peu. Quoi avec la fin de mois et tout c est salée a remplace ce ''truc a faire frette''. Anywho j apporte mon auto la semaine suivante a l aube avant de commence ma journée. En mis journnee je les appelle pour avoir des nouvelles. Mr ...... semble que le morceau fut installé avec succes, seulement... et bien il est defectueux égualement.... Tabarnalacla !! Donc ils re-installe l ancient et en commande un autre. Une semaine plus tard ils recoivent le dit morceau, je re-re prend rendez-vous, trouve le tour d arriver en retard au bureau apres avoir deposé la bête entre leurs mains en attendent un lift de leurs part.

La tenez vous bin.... depuis vendredi dernier.... il fait frette dans la bête !!! Houra ! Steur égualement changé une fuse pour les mirroires et mon allume cigar / interface pour cellulaire et Ipod. Je devrais être bon pour une semaine ou deux je crois... lol.

Sinon le week-end dernier fut marque par the bitter sweet reality d une bella grandée grassée matinée passée avec une charmante charmeuse demoiselle suivie immédiatement par sont exile pour un mois en terres étrangère :(  Torieux ! C est qu'elle risque de me manquer la laa !  Usé du peu de temps restant en mis après-midi pour l escorté a l aéroport local. Intéressant fait a propos de la route pour l aeroport a dorval. Sur la route il est indiqué aeroport Pierre Eliotte Trudeau sur quelques kilomoetres, puis nous bifurquons vers l aéroport Mirabel, suivis immediatement par Trudeau , Mirabel et enfin un chantier qui sérieusement peu causé quelques valide questions du genre... WTF !?! Ceci est la route principal ? Plutot un champs de batailles avec des viaduc incomplets et  nid de poules sans fond oui!

Bientot le week-end et nouvelles mesures de sécuritée.

Ouin bin il fait 29 degree dans le bureau et la ptite fan "roule au conton" comme va l expression. J n ose imaginer la temparature dans la manufacture. Demain je vais aller faire arranger mon aire climatiser sur la bete a un garage local et par la suite c est en route pour la metropole pour un autre week-end en delectable compagnie :)  Prob en profiter pour faire les marchés publics et me remplir la panse de chocolatines et croissants le matin venue. Comme quoi la metropole garde jalousement ses nombreuses boulangeries #$%#$@$%#$%#$%# !!! Je ne peu qu'espèrer que mère nature va coopérer avec une température plus comfortable que ces dernière semaines... Les "ice cap" de Tim font vraiment la job ces temps-ci.

Oh et un update pour ceux qui se demande pourquoi il ya maintenant un mot de passe sur mon blog...des recents developements on provoquer l apparition d'un cretin d envergure monumental avec un dont pour le harsèlement moral ainsi que menance en tout genre. Le dit residue d'ectoplasme, bachibouzouk analphabet comme dirait Hadoc emerde quelqu un qui est rapidement devenu chaud a mon coeur. Ainsi et par precaution pour tout les concernés j ai opté pour une sécurité additionelle pour mon forum jusqu ici un peu public...

Bien bien

Bien bien, mon mini roman et ‘’quête pour la bête’’ enfin publié au vues de tous je vais enfin pouvoir passer à autre chose. Que se passe-t-il ses temps-ci par ici ? Mes colocs et moi avons réussi a terraformer la cour arrière en un endroit potable avec un ptit potager semi ombrager.  La faune local nous supporte d ailleur dans ce projet.  Par exemple la marmotte a sus déguster avec soins toutes les fleurs de zuchini et le bébé lièvre c est contenté  jusqu’ a présent de grignoter le persil du cote des fines herbe…. Installer un grillage mais les dommages  / encouragements dije  furent assez élever. Nous nous croisons les doigts pour une repousse de mis été. Reste le monstrueux rosier a l’avant mais ça est hors de mes cordes puisqu’ une permission est de mise pour les travaux de réfraction du dit arbuste !  LOL. La capitale possède un nombre incroyable de piste cyclable de qualité. Jusqu’ à présent je ne sais en profiter autant que j’aurai désiré, attabler à d’autres projets et encombrer de par les innombrables bancs de moustiques en soirée.  Plus proche un peu j’ai commencé à renouer avec la métropole avec l’aide d’une très charmante  demoiselle qui a sus me convaincre de revenir en terre québécoise plus souvent que je ne l’avais initialement prévus. Comme quoi la belle province se garde d’être ennuyeuse et dévoile ses attraits pour la saison.  Ci-joint, quelques photos  (post clean up automnal de l’an dernier) du ‘before and after’ de notre cour arrière.

 Friday

I called the bank again on Friday to press upon them my situation and after hearing my story, again, they placed me on hold and then transferred me to someone higher up in the dealings between the bank and the insurer. Again, told my story and again placed on hold. Then seeing she could t help me transferred me directly to TD insurance. Once there I explained, AGAIN what was going on and she then transferred me to yet another clerk since she did not do car insurance. Then very next clerk started off jolly enough but then after placing me on hold to call up my file and also check in with the manager I had spoken to yesterday came back sour and disgruntled. Seems the manager had time to actually do his job and that after reviewing the facts he might be able to expedite the return payment a little earlier. A full two weeks in the best of scenarios.  Course I still took the time to underlined their incompetence as to signing me up after blatantly refusing my application & more importantly stealing money from people who where not even approved customers. I then pushed a little further inquiring as how they would be preventing future fiascos of the sort inquiring, again, as to what EXACLY had happened. They said they did t know indirectly communicated it was t any of my business. Again I seeked reparation of some sort but to no avail aside from a crappy half concocted corporate apologies from the lowest of the lowest minion in their employ. I did not thank him for is stupendous effort but rather quite directly hung up after expressing once again my displeasure at their follow up service.

That night I got the screws for my double license plates with the sticker at the back & purchased gas at 1.29….. I managed to stop by the bank to try and sort off the mess I had inherited from TD Meloche Insurance. They tried everything they could short of entering fake amount into the transfer directory. It was nice actually having so many people behind the counter trying different things and giving advice as to possible venues. Ultimately even the supervisor could t do much but she still managed to block any further redraws from TD Meloche Insurance to no cost to my self. Here I would like to thank them for their efforts and dare I say, carrying for their customers thought this situation was not of their doing whatsoever. Thank you.

So la bête is fully operational and I might add legal this side of the river, got my 2011 adidas on special and am holding hope I will be seeing the thieves return the stolen goods to my account some time this month. All that now remains is to pay up the combined 3 months for my first car insurance payment in  2 weeks.  All in all I think this nightmare might slowly be passing.

That night I did not have time to go to the bank in person in order to fill paperwork that would prevent TD meloche from taking anymore money out of my account by “mistake”. I instead made it a point to drop by my local branch the next night, Friday after work. Instead I finally went to pick up la bête from the body shop and drove out to the only service centre opened after 5 pm once a week and as would happen it was the very night my car graduated with high honors from the integrity check. Wheels Alignment, nearly perfect and well within required specs.  Did you know that in Ontario you not only need your plates and drivers license but also a cute little sticker to place on the license plate to prove you have indeed have paid your dues and are now allowed to drive on the road with said car ? I did not, and where I thought I would be paying 30$ for my plate and drive into the sunset I paid 130$ in dues so that I might be allowed to drive on the road until my birthday in 2012 if we don t blow up earth or something by then. That s a one time 30$ for the plates as advertised on the Ontario Official Website and an additional 74$ per year not so much advertised as simply not the official website. At least at first glance when one is inquiring on getting his car plated in Ontario. The balance of the total 130 was my dues for the remainder of the year. Figured I would be getting at least a glow in the dark sticker for that price, nope.

That week s Thursday, looking up my financial info over a coffee during a 5 min break while looking forward to picking up my car from the body shop that same night I noticed 200$ missing from my bank account. I immediately called my bank to inquire on the missing funds to discover TD Meloche Insurance had taken money out of my account. They recommended I call the insurance people right away to clear this up. I asked if they could do anything on their end and they told me in the worst case scenario they could open an investigation. Considering the last few days I took special care to take note of this worst case scenario option.

SO let me get this straight, you people, TD Meloche refused to insure me, then magically did somehow for 4 days, then realized you had made a mistake and cancelled the said policy only to take 200 dollars out of my account something like 2 weeks later. Am I the only one who thinks a blind fish in a fishbowl would do a better job than the people so many trust with their car and house insurance at this point? Non mais je rêve !!! Oh and FYI, that’s 50$ a day for a car policy. Pretty steep to say the least would t you say?

I called the TD Meloche Insurance during my break….. After having to wait for 5 min at my desk this miserable excuse for a cooperate minion comes on the line and starts telling me I won’t be able to get my money back until the 26 of may. Just for the record that was pretty much 3 weeks from then. Of course I ever so kindly reminded him that I should t have to wait 3 freakin weeks to get my money back since as I had no account with them, never agreed to anything with them and that to some measure what they had done could be considered stealing, dare I say fraud ? At that point I requested to speak to his manager. His manager was less than forthcoming and if I did t know better I would of guessed it was his time of the month or something. Within 10 sec of talking on the phone with him he began giving me the cooperate speech and confirmed his minion info saying they could t do anything about my stolen money. The reimbursement could only be approved by not next Monday but by the following one on the 16. Then a 10 day bank waiting time / transfer delay. At that point I have to admit I sort of lost it and began accusing them openly of stealing and topped it off with a generous ration of accusatory incompetence. They screwed up and 3 weeks was the best they could do? Not good enough. I told him as much in pretty much those terms. Course the manager who was already from the start a first class douch did not take kindly to my increasingly loud and shall we say insulting tone and so we shortly ended this most enlightening conversation with my solemn word I would be looking further into this matter via consumer protection and written means if I did not get reparation in a most expedient timeline.

chapter 6

The following Tuesday, I received an insurance policy not from my broker but from TD Meloche by mail. Included were my paperwork bundle, emergency contact card and user card in two envelopes to my name. HEEEeeeeee, as I recall I was plainly rejected on the grounds that my car was a rebuilt. So what gives? Called them moments later to ask them exactly that. I was placed on hold for 35 MINUTES before someone answered me. Somehow I ended it up in Quebec after exposing my situation to the receptionist. Now since this was a policy that was rejected and then a file that was seemingly erased in Ontario the Quebec side could not and would not deal with this. Hence they re-transferred me to Ontario which took by reckoning another 5 min. Once there I re- re-re explained my situation and also asked if it was company policy to make people wait for 35 min in the wrong province only to be re-directed and all of this for a supposedly none existing policy. The clerk apologized and apologized and after about 5 minutes of her asking me bloody questions on my account she admitted that I had been insured with them for 4 days the week I had initially applied. A slip up of some sort according to them. A big one I heart fully reminded her as I was rejected on two occasions.  She assured me they had sent a cancellation letter but just to be on the safe side, what with my trust of them at an all time high I decided to request they re-send me that policy cancellation letter.

chapter 5

That day,  the moment I came back into the office I called Subaru to inquire as to the why I did t get what had I requested !!!!?????!!! Obviously they did not do the integrity check. Upon further investigation I discovered that though they did do the safety and emission test they did not do the integrity check. Actually they don t even offer the integrity check.  I had assumed both where the one and the same since no mention of a second test of that nature was required, again on checklist. Further more when I requested it from the dealership he immediately corrected me by calling it a safety check (see flashback).  Once again, this turned into an interesting discussion with my Subaru dealership as to the question of what I had requested and what was actually done. Luckily for all parties I needed the safety check as well as the integrity check so their work was not wasted. Still I made it a point to remind them of what I had requested and that it might be prudent for their people to be aware of the proper terminology instead of changing the names to fit their offered service.

The next day I located a “designated” body shop where they could do the integrity check for my car as suggested by the licensing office. Located past Orleans they where kind enough to offer me a ride from the garage to the local bus terminus and where even opened on Saturdays. Made an appointment for the upcoming Saturday. Friday, at people s behalf I continued to shop around for a body shop or really anyone who could do it. The best recommended garage was very keen on doing the job no fuss and way cheaper only until I called back to confirm the appointment and double check it was for the integrity check and not safety. Seems not a great many places in this town offer this service… Yet everyone agrees to bluntly confuse them both as the one and the same until you take the time to check up on their actual work. Finally at lunch I found a place even closer than the all the previously contacted ones and 40$ cheaper. Set up an appointment for the following Wednesday for a Thursday pick up.

Chapter 4, The Following Week...

The following week,

I got my insurance paperwork in order by Wednesday afternoon. The broker was even kind enough to fax me a copy so that I might be able to take my vehicle on the road the same day. The next day, my Boss offered and took me to the licensing office near work during work hours mind you. Previously I had made sure all my paperwork was in order and even went through the Ontario Car Licensing checklist via their own website. After waiting in line for about 5 min I walk up to the clerk all smiles with my paperwork in hands.

“I m sorry sir but I m in training and I can t help you. Please go back in line and wait for the next qualified clerk.”

So I went back in line and waited another 5, 8 min while my boss was waiting in the parking lot in his own car. Finally my turn, I walk up to the so called qualified clerk, hands out my safety, emission and insurance paperwork. She then looks at me while holding on to my ownership paperwork and requested my integrity check paperwork.

“Afternoon, I would like to make an appointment for an integrity check and emission if you guys also offer it. I just moved from out of province and need to bring my car up to code your Ontario Car Legislations”

“No problem sir, we can do both the safety test & the emission test but this last one will have to be done off location.”

So you can do the integrity check or what you call the safety check by mid next week? Oh and while you are at it could you also take a look at my breaks and co. ? ….”

Of course sir, how does Thursday sound?

Imagine my pleasant surprise when the clerk informed me it would cost a min of 500 dollars to get the integrity check done on my car and that until it was done I could not get my car registered in Ontario. Of course this verification was already done in Quebec years ago as is required for all rebuilt cars. I told her as much but she plainly refused to hear any of it claiming Ontario had different norms than Quebec when it came to licensing cars on the road. Ya cause across the river yonder we often still use horse drawn carriages to get to work and at church on time. Hence we are bound to have different norms, obviously!!  So after yet another heated verbal exchange where I requested the validity of charging me 500 dollars for something I already had I left slamming the door out of my way as I left. My Boss simple could t believe it but then remembered a similar situation where he had to replace a new tire in case it was damaged due to a bump on the related mechanics. A 800 dolard deal as I recall just to be up to code with Ontario norms.

chapter 3, April 20, 21st

April 20^th,

I Called TD Meloche car insurance to insure “la Bete”.

Spent 55 minutes with a rare incompetent individual trying to get a quote and ultimately a policy with them. La goutte qui a fait deborde le vase a 50 min dans la conversation et je cite; Can I please have your name sir” . Keep in mind that at that point he had all my contact information, my bank info, everything about my car he requested as well as my grandmother secret gravy recipe.

55 min in I bluntly told him I would have to finish this interview at a later time since I was assured in the first 5 min this would only take 20 to 30 min at most and 55 min in I was still no closer to getting anything done right. Did manage to squizz out of him an estimate for a policy, 1800 a year. Welcome to Ontario licensing people. Insurance rates are off the scale & plates are only 20 – 30 bucks. Wow ! … So innocent, “sight”

April 21st

The next day, I decided to call TD Meloche back and finish what I had started the previous night during my lunch break. The lady on the phone was very good and 30 min later I had my quote, policy number in hand and things where looking up until … I mentioned I had a re-built car. By which point “an over the top” sight was hear from her end of the line and I felt the grounds of my enterprise crumble to dust. True enough, it took her 5 sec to reject my application, another 5 to erase my policy and file and though I argued that the car had been through a safety and emission check at my local Subaru Dealership, passing with flying colors after a few repairs I was politely informed they would not, never, ever grant my car with an insurance policy. Somehow got the feeling I was standing at one end of a 10 foot pole with her at the other end weaving for me to scram.

Afterwards, I spend the better part of my afternoon between calls looking up other insurance companies in the vain hopes that I might get insured for the Easter Week-end and drive back to my folks. Desjardins was glad to oblige, only they requested an emission test, safety check, integrity check, motor history, letter from my previous insurer and a vehicle health what ever that might be. K, the emission and safety I had in hand and letter was easy enough to get. But the motor history… and health thingy. REALLY !???? Like my own Dealership Inspection was t good enough for the mighty Desjardins!

….“Haaa but I remember many years ago when my darlin motor was but 2 years of age, twas the year it burped after it was fed substandard gasoline” The poor lad”. Maybe I could also include it s first art project or when it had it s first wisdom casket removed! 3%^#$%T#$WTW$%!!!

The Cooporators where about to transfer me to their version of SVU (Special Vehicle Unit, lol) when I moved on to the next. Belaire was expensive to say the least. I even entertained the idea of CAA but had to be resuscitated after seeing the yearly 3 thousands dineroes to be part of the team. Finally my Boss suggested his own insurance broker. Sounded good so I called them. Of course being a stone throw on the wrong side of the river they could t help me but as it was they had recently opened an Ontario office. In fact it was so new, the phones line could t be transferred. I took the number down and gave them a call forthwith. At that point I had pretty much given up on any pretence of actually doing any work and people where to starting to conglomerate around my neck of the office to observe my “progress”. Took me a couple of minutes but got my basic info across and though I could t get a quote on the spot, computers where not even pluged in yet, I was promised I quote for the following mid week. Hence did not make it for Easter but progress!

chapter 2, April 7th

April: 7th

I called the Subaru Dealership in order to get a quote for the repairs, maintenance I estimated I might need for her after a winter spent under the white blanket.  I also requested an integrity check as well as emission test as required by the Ontario Gov for licensing vehicles in this province. Concerned about her general health I also requested special attention be brought to the brake pads, an overdue change of oil and battery & alternator verification for good measure. This was combined to a 20 point inspection with the brakes inspection and cleaning of the pads on the house, as part or the overall inspection.

The integrity check or rather the safety check as the Subaru representative was quick to correct me over the phone would be about 100.00$, the emission test another 49.99$ and the battery alternator test also 49.99$. Brought her in April 13^th early evening. At this point I must admit it nearly broke my heart to hear her scrape her way down the street to my local dealership. The tires where so low she felt like a wobbly partner. She sounded and screeched like a wounded and very heavy cat with troubled breathing. Kinda reminded me of how I felt when we got our sick kitten from the farm a few months back. The next day I got a full estimate from the Dealership, the 4 routers had to be replaced due to corrosion, one bearing also needed to be replaced, a seized donut shaped valve was frozen into place in the exhaust system, a support bracket for the exhaust was coming apart and the air filter was stuffed to a near chocking level. As I said, I had expected the worst thought the complete replacement of all 4 routers was a surprise. The bearing replacement I was strangely enough reassured with as I was beginning to imagine I was hearing noises no one else seemed to hear. I had also suspected something was wrong with the exhaust system or intake. What with the off key breathing she had begun making. Again no surprise where the air filter and exhaust were concerned.. As for the battery… well it was nearly dead and pretty much useless for all concerned and had to be changed. Oh well. I’ll spare you the total financial details but suffice to say I was glad my tax return came in early this year thought nothing could of prepared me for the upcoming expenditures and headaches that would soon follow in this seemingly simple enterprise.

The following tale of heartache and misfortune took place in the spring of 2011 and depicts our hero s quest at resurrecting his faithful Subaru steed nicknamed “la Bete” from a lengthy winter slumber while and seeking admittance for her to Ontario roads. It spans over several blog entries laid out here in chronological order.

Early April, 

Finally, I managed to secure the required funds to wake up “la Bete” from her winter slumber and take her for well-deserved tune up at my local Subaru Dealership. I knew my Quebec licenses where going to expire in little less than two months time so I decided to go all out and get her up to date with local norms. Figured it would be a charmed to get her licensed once the mechanical inspection was out of the way. Obviously I was oblivious to what was looming ahead.

Update Printanier

Today est la première journée du printemps ! Et qui dit printemps dit également Hotdog chez Ikea. Bin quoi a 0.50$, quant t'a un creux c'est dure a battre LOL. Trouvé une ptite tablette pour 5$ dans la section "débara" pour le studio et mon coloc une étagère. Sinon la St Pat cette année fut passé dans une sobriété record. À savoir pas de pub ni parade. Plutôt investi mon capital sur la bête ainsi qu'un update pour mon téléphone. Pauvre char, il part même plus sans boost #$%@$#%?#$%?#$?#@ !! Question cellulaire, je reste avec un Samsung mais cette fois avec un GPS qui ne me place pas au Québec et en Ontario en même temps !! Sérieux j'étais physiquement au centre ville dla capitale et en même temps a Gatineau selon mon "faux GPS". Pratique quant tu veux te placé rapidement sur la map lors des déplacements. Heeee chu tu dans la Belle Province, en Ontario ou au USA là là ????? Pis dans quelle direction je me dirige criiiifffff !! Ça et j'en avais marre que mon browser me dise que la page était trop large pour être lut correctement ou pas assez de mémoire pour exécuté. Coté job nous battons des records de production, Yeeeaaaa !

Kobo is the Word

Kobo is the word.

Sérieux, ce ptit bijoux minimaliste quant ont tient compte de tous les E-Readers sur marché est vraiment bien.


Cela fait environ une semaine que j'use de ptit bijoux de simplicité pour la lecture de livre et jusqu'ici, mission accomplis. Non seulement aige réussi a contournée le problème posé par l'achat de livre seulement avec une carte de crédit... mais suite à une conversation avec un camarade dla vielle capital j'ai découvert un programme de conversion de fichier PDF et co. pour mon lecteur. Un peu slow surmon vieux OSX mais vraiment bin faite pour les E-Readers. Le ptit programme, "Calibre".

En terme d'options,le Kobo ne possède pas d'options tel que les autres lecteur, E-Readers, actuellement sur le marché. Théoriquement muni d'un dictionnaire intégré, pratiquement parlant cette option n'est point au point ci vous me suivez. Il est possible de lire des fichiers PDF mais ci les caractères sont trop petit vous ne pourrez alors que les grossir que par tranches pré-définis. L'échelle passe de 100 à 125 a 150% et ainsi de suite et n'est accessible que via le menu de configuration. En comparaison avec des fichiers .Epub ou les caractères peuvent être grossis ou réduis sur une échelle plus précise et ce via un simple clique de l'interface / bouton de navigation. Il est également possible de changer l'angle de visionnement du document lue en deux mode. Soit en mode standard, "portrait" ou encore en mode "Landscape". Ce dernier est vraiment pratique lorsque viens le temps de lire des documents PDF trop grand pour être lus tel un livre normal. L'option "landscape" vient également avec des flèches de navigation a même l'écran ce qui permet de "bouger" la page d'un sens comme de l'autre pour visionné des documents qui occupe de trop grande surfaces.


Les nouveaux Kobo viennent avec l'option Wi-Fi et un lien est bâti dans le lecteur même vers le site d'achat de livres Kobo aka Chapters Indigo. Bien entendu vos cartes cadeau Indigo et co ne sont point valide pour l'achat de livre bien que la compagnie est censé étudié une solution. "raclement de gorge". Oublier également PayPal, virement bancaire. La seul options d'achat demeure la carte de crédit. Ainsi j'ai travaillé le week-end dernier a trouvé une autre option que d'acheté des livres a crédit sous format digital. Le résultat, approximativement quelques millions de livre disponible et gratos à télécharger via le web.

D'ailleurs a ce sujet j'ai pris la peine d'ajouter dans ma liste de liens quelques suggestion pour vos futur "non achat de livres". Enjoy !




P.S. Électrocution option comes optional Lyddie. Though in your case & upon further investigation .... an "L class" weather proof case might be in order ! lol

Aperçu de hausses de taxes et de tarifs

•Hausse de la TVQ : de 7,5% à 8,5% et ça grimpe à 9,5% dès le 1er janvier 2012

Heee... Viande !?!

Bon !! Il neige, steur qui veux se joindre a moi pour faire un bonhomme de neige ci le temps ci-prête ce weekend ?

Coté bouffe j ai découvert un bouché le weekend dernier. Ou plutôt nombres de ses pièces de viandes et un pâté ont trouvé leurs chemins a mon assiette... hehehehe. Le nom dla place ? Brians' Butcherie & Deli bien que sur le dit commerce c'est plutôt Brians' & Sons. Vue du dehors ça dlaire d'un trous ci je puis l'exprimé ainsi et pourquoi il a fallu qu'il ouvre boutique dans ce secteur éloigné... Situé dans le coin du Ikea (1117 Cobden Road, Ottawa). Donc ont passe la logistique du transport, ont se remet de ses premières impressions à la vue du commerce et finis par entrer. Premièrement, sur place aucune pièce de viande n'est vendu avant 21 jours post préparation. Et dire que ce délais pour faire vieillir la viande est le strict minimum selon le maitre bouché ! Le pâté à la viande goute le steak et est d une simplicité déconcertante dans l assiette. Aucun légumes et gréement superflu en vue. La pâte est légère sans être trop grasse et faite maison. Je recommande donc de NE PAS acheter se délicieux pâté au risque de devenir accro. Personnalité susceptible s'abstenir. En fin de semaine je vais tenter de mettre le grappin sur leurs saucisse de poulet et pommes. Parait qu'elles sont tellement populaire que c'est vraiment dure d'en trouver. À savoir mes fournisseurs actuel ont tenté à 2 reprises d'en acheter et ce sans succès. Elles sont vendu seulement congelé puisqu'ils n'utilise aucun agents de conservation ce qui explique prob en partie leurs courte durée de vie en magasin. Inventaire limité et une gang de monde qui se pitch dans le fridge pour les ramassaser ! #$%@#%#@%% lol.

Post Holidays

And so the holidays have come and gone once more. I do hope not all Ontarian winters are not so bleak snowise... New years was calm to say the least, an ode to a kinda melancholy that has been brewing in the backroom for a while now. 2010 an interesting year on the financial / professional level to say the least ! I wonder what type of vintage will result once sifted. Changed job, changed city, changed province and very soon change plates sur la bete histoire de completer la metamorphose. Over zealous carolers beware !




Me suis deniche une ptite merveille de daypack hier au magasin de plein aire Trail Head dans la cadre des cadeaux de noel "finance" hehehehe. Un backpack de 30 litre avec option d expension pour un 5 litres addionel. Le sac comprend un compartiment et sortie pour le "camel back" ainsi qu un storm shield avec un compartiment expres au bas du backpack. Deux courrois permettent d ajuste la taille lors de l expension du sac et il possede egualement un separateur optionel a l interne pour diviser le compartiment principal en deux. Bref c presque un miniature de mon backpack d expedition mais en plus ptit et mis a jours. Le dos possede une armature avec un filet pour une meilleurs respiration du dos. L armature elle meme et pose sur un hybride de support en metal et tissus, encors une fois ajustable et d une grande legerte. Un compartiment additionel sur le dessus du sac pour des cartes, gadgets et de quoi a grignoter sans toutefois etre dans un capuchon. D ailleur ce sac n en comporte pas, la resistence aux elements semble reposer sur des fermetures de grande qualitee ainsi que le storm shield inclus. Bin bin hate de le tester ce backpack la !! Oh et comme le destin, ici "le gars des vues" fait bin les chose j ai recus un sac au sec ainsi qu une pochette impermeable pour passport/cell pour noel. Comme quoi sa commence a avoir dla l allure ! lol Reste a me trouver une place pour tester le tout a proximite le temps que la bete sorte de sont hibernation. Hummm mouin et mes bottes de neiges sont reste chez la famille... #$^$^$#^#^%&$%Y%EY$ !!! Bah, ma trouve de quoi : )
